Thanks to all who came to the Courtenay branch during our first annual Fill The Truck Event on October 26, 2023, to support the Comox Valley Food Bank. Together, our branch raised $1,500 from the RBC Communities Together Fund plus your $2,735 in on-site donations for a total of $4,235. Plus, the amount of food we received weighed in at 500 pounds! Thank you for making our very first Fill The Truck Event a success, and we look forward to hosting this event each year
The Hospital Activity Book for Children is a national program through which we supply complimentary activity books to hospitals, medical centres, crisis units and victim services centres. The activity book is an invaluable resource used to distract and engage children while they are undergoing medical and emergency treatments in traumatic situations.
The 2022 Mayor’s Golf Charity Classic wrapped up its 15th year with a presentation of cheques to local charities. It was wonderful to have Charlene Davis (We Can Shelter), Cindy Xavier and Pam Crowe (CVCDA) and Mike Fournier (Comox Valley Search and Rescue) attend and receive their cheques. In total, the 2022 Mayor’s Golf Charity Classic raised $58,100 for local charities. The committee would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers and golfers that made this event possible. We are very excited to be hosting it again this year – make sure to block your calendar for September 8th, 2023!
For almost twenty years, YANA has welcomed the holiday season by making and selling Christmas Crackers in support of local children and families. For a consecutive three years, 2022, 2023 & 2024, Somers Private Wealth is the Christmas Cracker sponsor contributing $5,000 annually. With our support, 100% of every Christmas Cracker sale could be directed to accommodation and travel funding for YANA families. Many volunteers, retailers, and Cracker purchasers in the Comox Valley and beyond contributed to making this fundraiser another huge success!
Thousands of Canadians across the country take part in this event, raising funds to support people and families experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger in our community. For the last several years, Somers Private Wealth have volunteered to contribute to this event at the registration desk by checking in teams and collecting fundraising money, ensuring the event runs smoothly with maximum impact.
